Dance to Health

What is Dance to Health?

Dance to Health is an evidence-led, pioneering falls prevention dance programme for older people nationwide.

Falls are traumatic for older people and a major challenge for the health system. They destroy confidence, increase isolation, and reduce independence, while costing the NHS £4.4 billion annually.

Dance to Health sessions combat this issue, combining exercise with the creativity, energy, and the sociability of dance. The programme managed by Aesop, run by Dance Artists who are qualified Postural Stability Instructors (PSIs), and is in line with NICE and NHS guidelines.

  • Our programme prevents falls by 58%.
  • Evidenced has shown Dance to Health improves mental wellbeing by 96%.
  • Dance to Health has made participants feel more physical active by 96%.
  • The NHS family and friends test stated that 98% would recommend Dance to Health who have fallen or at risk of falling.
  • Our sessions are mostly suited to a person aged 65+ but we can cater for individuals aged 50+ who require a falls prevention programme.
  • Sessions are 90 minutes long with an extra 30 minutes of social time for a cup of tea and chat.
  • The classes take place in multiple areas within the Dudley Borough.
