Getting active, getting outdoors and meeting people. Supporting people to get fitter and improve their general health and wellbeing.
The Healthy Places team support several programmes that are aimed at getting people active outdoors.
Healthy Hubs – These are centres based in four parks across the borough offering free physical activity classes, a bookable community room and a friendly member of staff offering health information and advice.
Park Active programme – This is a volunteer led fitness session offered in five parks across the borough.
Ramblers Wellbeing Walks – This is a programme of short friendly walks led by partners and volunteers at different locations across the borough.
parkrun and junior parkrun – These events are delivered by volunteers and provide an opportunity to run/walk/jog for free over a planned 5K route for adults or a 2K route for 4–14-year-olds.
Outdoor Gyms – There are 13 outdoor gyms across the borough, they are free to use and offer a variety of stations.
