The road to wellbeing – A tool for managing stress of every day life

Sometimes we all need a helping hand when life’s daily pressures get on top of us. Maybe you are feeling anxious or low in mood. Do you feel more stressed than normal? Have you experienced any panic? Or do you have any phobias that are impacting on your life?

The NHS in Dudley offers a free, confidential, talking therapies service. This provides a range of psychological therapies to support people experiencing:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • panic
  • phobias

They will work with you to find the best treatment for your needs. This could include:

  • wellbeing workshops
  • computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • individual therapy
  • guided self-help
  • signposting to other support services

Support in crisis – Black Country 24/7 helpline

If you need urgent help with your mental health or are struggling to cope, the Black Country 24/7 helpline is here to help you.

The helpline offers a range of support services at times and places when people need it the most. We can help you with:

  • Advice
  • Emotional support
  • Triage
  • Referrals
  • Signposting

You don’t need a referral from your GP or other health professionals. You can reach out for help when you need it. Mental health professionals will be on hand to help you avoid a crisis and help you find the path to recovery.

People of all ages across the Black Country can access local mental health crisis services 24/7 by calling 111 and selecting option 2. If you would prefer to text this service, please contact 07860 025 281.

Face to face support is also available outside of usual mental health service hours. Each of the Black Country boroughs have a Sanctuary Hub.

Help for managing suicidal thoughts

Anyone can have suicidal thoughts, if you’re feeling like you want to die, it’s important to tell someone. Help and support is available right now if you need it. You do not have to struggle with difficult feelings alone.

 

Dudley Self Management Programmes

These are courses for adults who live or work in Dudley borough or have a Dudley GP. The courses are for people with long-term health condition such as:

  • Type 1 Diabetes, arthritis, COPD, osteoporosis, pain conditions, heart problems, depression and anxiety and many more.

There are also specific courses available for adults who:

  • have a caring responsibility
  • have type 2 diabetes
  • have a long-term health condition and bereaved

All courses are FREE and run for 2.5 hours per week for six weeks. Groups offered are available in community venues, online, and a 1-hour telephone option.
