Enjoy the sun safely

Heading outdoors or jetting off somewhere sunny? Here are some easy ways to keep your skin protected:

  • Pick the right sunscreen: Go for SPF 30 or higher with UVA protection.
  • Don’t skimp: Apply plenty of sunscreen and top it up every two hours and always after swimming or towel-drying.
  • Get ahead of the sun: Put it on 15–30 minutes before you head outside.
  • Cover up: A lightweight t-shirt, a wide-brimmed hat, and UV-protective sunglasses can make a big difference.
  • Take a break in the shade: The sun is strongest between 11am and 3pm, so find shelter under an umbrella, tree, or head indoors for a while.

A little care goes a long way — protect your skin today for a healthier tomorrow!

Take extra care with children – young skin is delicate. Keep babies out of the sun, especially around midday.

Avoid sunbeds
Sunbeds are not a safer alternative to tanning in the sun. The intensity of some of the UV rays they give off can be 10-15 times higher than that of the midday sun.

Always report unusual moles or skin changes to your doctor
