Plain Boiled Rice

Ingredients
225g (8oz) basmati rice
600ml water
Pinch of salt (optional)
Method
1. Wash the rice under cold running water until the water runs clear.
2. Place the rice in a saucepan and add the water. Add salt if using.
3. Bring to the boil and cook for 4-6 minutes until the rice grains are just tender.
4. Cover and turn the heat to its lowest setting and cook for a further 5-7 minutes.
5. Do not lift the lid or stir.
6. Turn off the heat and leave to steam for 10 minutes.
7. Fluff up the rice and serve.
